Hudson's Peaceful Demonstration

6/8/2020

Like so many towns and cities around the country, Hudson had a peaceful demonstration tonight to acknowledge the injustice of George Floyd's death and so many before him. A Mom in town organized the event saying she needed to do something! (Thank you so much, Julie!) It was so wonderful to see the heartfelt signs and chants of the people of Hudson, gathering for such a powerful purpose!

A change is going to come - OH HELL YES IT WILL!

This was so fun! I loved reading your stories and learning a little bit about you during this lonely time of quarantine. I hope these images brought a smile to your kids' faces! I know here at my home, my kids have good days and bad. It must be so incredibly confusing for them!

Together, we were able to support many locally owned small businesses, including the Hudson Food Pantry! I can't wait to use those gift cards you sent! Haberdash, Rail Trail, Kith & Kin, Cafe 641 - you'll see me running when this is all over! Truly, very generous people out there!

Thank you to Tara Mapes for creating these incredible backgrounds and for bending the rules to allow me to use parents' photos! I know a bunch of you had a lot of fun getting out there for your photo shoots! The costumes, props, and poses were phenomenal!

I'm so excited to add this to my list of services! They'll make such great gifts for birthdays and other special events!

This all came about because a client of mine asked if I'd do something special for their daughter's fifth birthday. It was such a hit, I decided to do it for my kids! Their eyes lit up like I hadn't seen in a long time. I knew I had to share that!

If you have an idea that's been itching you, share it with me! We're all trying to navigate this quarantined lifestyle together. It's fun being able to connect with new ideas and I certainly love to make people feel special!

Take care, everyone!

Mother's Day Special - Quarantine Style!

As we continue our quarantine, finding creative ways to offer services from our home, I offer you this Mother's Day Special! I want you to dig out your favorite portrait with your Mom, take a photo of it with your phone or camera and email it to me! I'll create this water color digital painting for you to print as a gift for your Mom! It would look great inside of a cool, vintage frame or on a homemade card!

Yah, that's me in the lower right with my Mom and sister from the 1980's!

Like my previous offer, this is a complimentary gift from me to you! I ask that you support me by supporting other locally owned small businesses by purchasing a gift card. And please like my facebook page, follow me on IG @tarasullivanphotography, and leave a review!

I would recommend getting your orders in by Sunday, if you want a printed gift for Mother's Day. I highly recommend Artifact Uprising for this project. They use a nice, soft paper that would compliment this water color image well. I will keep this offer active until Mother's Day, May 10th.

Please EMAIL me so I can be sure to keep track of your submissions! Thank you so much and take care!

***THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUBMISSIONS! BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR MORE OFFERS - COMING SOON!!!***
Picture
Hey there, friends and family!

I'm offering a "quarantine special"! I really wanted to do something extraordinary for the kids during this pandemic. Something they can be excited about and maybe even feel empowered!

So what am I offering? I'm asking YOU to be MY photographer! I want you to send me photos of your kids! I'll use one of your photos to create an image for your child that is going to make them say WOW! You know as much as I do that kids have the greatest imaginations, so just picture their reaction when they see their fantasies come to life! Petting a unicorn, slaying a dragon, riding a dinosaur, or reading a book to a grizzly bear!
I'll be working with graphic artist, Tara Mapes. She creates the most fantastic backgrounds! Normally, graphic artists don't allow photographers to use their backgrounds with photos they didn't capture, but Mapes is making an exception during this crisis! As a non-essential worker, I can't offer photo sessions, but I can ask you to take the photos for me! Send me your photos and I'll create an image for your child that they'll treasure forever!

Before you run out and start taking pictures, message me with your thoughts and ideas.. your child's interests, their age, costumes you may have (avoid any branding!) I can also make suggestions with lighting and positioning. We'll come up with the coolest image ever!

How much, you ask? At this time, it's FREE! You'll receive a high res image with rights to print as you please. If you'd like to support me, I'll happily accept a gift card from a small locally owned business. #supportsmallbusiness

Please take care and stay home! We'll get through this together!

Lisa + Harry 10-12-19

Somebody call 911! Shawty fire burning on the dance floor - whoa!

And that shawty was Lisa on her wedding night!

Lisa was my ten year old daughter's dance teacher and you guessed it - they performed last Spring to Fire Burning on the Dance Floor by Sean Kingston dressed in their fire-lady attire. Without any hesitation, Lisa did it in her wedding gown at her reception and I have to say - it was wayyy cuter!!! ;)

I knew the dance floor would be hotttt when Lisa and Harry asked me to photograph their wedding and boy do I love a dance party!

When they asked me to be their wedding photographer, I invited Lisa and Harry to our local brewery to get to know them a bit and talk wedding preparations. Harry appeared to be the complete opposite of Lisa. A man of few words, not quite the dancer Lisa is, but he is clearly so very much in love with her! Watching him read their letters to each other before their ceremony and then his reaction when she entered the church - wow. My eyes welled up too!

Lisa's day started at Sereni Salon in Hudson, MA. Hair and make up with her lady crew! Lisa gave her girls ring pops for bling! Then we headed to her childhood home where they got dressed and ready to go to the ceremony where they were to meet up with the guys, family, and guests.

Lisa and Harry shared a private "no peek" moment at the church where they exchanged letters. Such a special moment before two people make such a big commitment to each other! They wiped away their tears, gave a sweet little hand squeeze, and a "see ya up there!"

When Lisa entered the doorway of the church with her Dad to walk her down the aisle, stoic Harry broke into tears. Pretty sure she took his breath away!

Their ceremony was given by Lisa's childhood priest - the very same who baptized her! He traveled from Buffalo, NY to be there! They treated him like a member of their family. He was in their family photos and traveled along to Boxborough to join us for the reception! Even gave the blessing before dinner!

After the ceremony, family stuck around for a few photos in front of the church, then we were off to Acton Arboretum with the wedding party! Fall graced us with it's beautiful palette for some gorgeous backdrops! If you haven't been to Acton Arboretum, now is the time to go! It gets better and better every year!

Off to Boxborough Regency Hotel for some yummy food, drinks, and dancing! A really cool space that makes you feel like you're outdoors. Lots of trees, sky lights, gazebos, water, and gotta love those twinkly lights! Unique Sounds Entertainment had everyone dancing - even Harry's grandmother who could get "lower" than him!

Cheers! to Lisa and Harry on a perfect wedding day! Thank you for having Laura and I there to capture it all! We wish you the happiest ever after!

Monica + Johnathan 9-21-19

A perfect early Fall wedding! Well worth the wait! These two families now joined together as one, through Monica and Johnathan.

After getting ready in separate homes, they met at St. Michael's Parish in Hudson for their ceremony. Monica struggled to get Johnathan's ring on, but she did it! A perfect kiss and they were off in their sweet ride to Old Stone Church in West Boylston for some photos.

Old Stone Church is gorgeous with it's historical structure surrounded by water but is often swarmed with visitors. We lucked out! We even had time to catch a few shots on the swing!

We made it back in time to catch the tail end of cocktail hour at the Chocksett Inn in Sterling where they spent the rest of their night celebrating with good food, drinks, and music! This crowd was ready to party!

I hope you can re-live these moments through your photos. This was certainly a day you'll never forget!

Congratulations, Monica and Johnathan!

Nicole + James August 24, 2019

"Do no harm" + "Always faithful" These were the quotes their Catholic priest gave Nicole, a physician's assistant and James, a marine during their wedding day ceremony. I just loved that! It's like the perfect combination for a lifelong marriage!

A tad tricky. Nicole and James planned their wedding on the east coast while living on the west coast. Fortunately, they had an army of friends and family who were more than willing to help! It was absolutely perfect!

The ladies got ready at their reception venue, The Barn on Walnut Hill in North Yarmouth, ME. What a beautiful venue! And their accommodations were gorgeous!

The guys got ready at a beautiful rental property by the water in Freeport, ME. They left for the church by trolley where they met up with the ladies, family, and friends.

Nicole wore her mother's wedding veil down the aisle, with her sweet Dad wrapped around her arm.  Grinning from ear to ear, she looked absolutely stunning. James' eyes popped open with a big smile when she walked in!

The ceremony took place at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Yarmouth, ME. I kept getting swept away by the beautiful music! It was truly the most magical church music I've ever heard.

Nicole and James exited the church under an arch of swords, held by fellow marines, then we all headed back to the barn to eat, drink, and celebrate!

James and Nicole both got up to speak their words of gratitude for making their wedding day happen and making it so special. Nicole's Dad gave a heartwarming thanks followed by the best man and maid of honor who had us all in stitches! I love hearing some of the hysterical memories that make it to the wedding day speech! And yes, Nicole's brothers also got up to share a few embarrassing memories of their sister mixed in with some sweet words.

I look forward to seeing what your future brings! Thank you so much for having me as your wedding day photographer!

Cheers!

Kelly + Joe  8/10/19

Can I just start this off by saying how much I love my job? I mean, someone pinch me!

This front-yard, back-yard, whole-yard wedding was a joining of two families who clearly have had a long history. Kelly and Joe met at an early age, but pretty much always knew that they were meant for each other. Waiting until the timing was right, they finally joined hands in marriage in the front yard of Kelly's parents' house on Saturday August 10th, 2019 surrounded by their friends and family.

After much (MUCH) planning, Kelly decided to clock out on Friday when it was time for her manicure. The food and drinks were ordered, her guests were on their way, the tent and tables were set up - time to enjoy the ride!

I arrived shortly after noon on Saturday to capture Kelly getting ready in her childhood home. She had returned from the salon with her hair in place, ready for her friend, Missy to do her makeup. When it came time to put on her dress, nerves ran high! Things got real! After a few deep breaths, she was ready to roll!

Kelly, her maid of honor, Jamie, and I hopped in my car to head for Wood Park. There, we met up with Joe and his best man (also brother), Jeff for their first look! Joe looked so dapper in his suspenders and Sperry's! I felt them both fall at ease once they saw each other.

After a brief session at Wood Park, we headed back to the house to get ready for the ceremony. Joe and Kelly requested that their Pastor, Rosanne give the ceremony. I imagine it was just as special for her, as it was her first time marrying a couple in a backyard wedding! After they exchanged their rings, they faced their guests to a great applause, then sealed it with a kiss!

After a long and harmonious receiving line, we continued with photos, dancing, drinking, and eating! The front yard consisted of dancing and rocking out, while the backyard was quiet with a roaring bonfire, ready for toasting marshmallows and making smores!

The toasts by the best man and maid of honor pulled on everyone's heartstrings! Kelly's Mom also gave a great toast, thanking everyone for being there. She had something else up her sleeve though! She coordinated a singing duo with Joe's Mom and had everyone participate with the lyrics hidden at each table! The photo of Joe and Kelly's reaction after hearing this announcement is quite possibly my favorite! I'm literally still laughing!

The night ended with their guests holding sparklers down the driveway, as Kelly and Joe headed off to continue the celebration back at the hotel with friends. The perfect way to make an exit!

Thank you so much for inviting me to capture your day!

Jentri + Brian 7-27-19

8/5/2019

July 27th came and went too fast! Jentri and Brian's wedding day was beyond special! It took place in a spectacular backyard by the Connecticut River, with so many personal touches. Brian's Dad, Tom and his wife, Kristen hosted and provided immense help in preparing for the day - I'm sure all along remembering what it was like to be married in that same backyard!

Jentri set up her gear at the dining room table to do her make up and hair while a whirl wind of preparations swarmed around her. We decided to have a first look behind the house giving Jentri and Brian a moment before the festivities began.

Flowergirl, Stella kicked off the ceremony riding in a little buggy that was a tradition in the Warner Family. Jentri made her grand entrance riding in the back of a 1987 BMW Beamer convertible sporting  white framed retro round sunglasses that stood out from top of the hill. I have to say, that was the best entrance I've seen from a bride and I think her guests would agree!

Stella's Dad, Adam was their JP. He had us all laughing, helping us forget about that hot sun bearing down on us. A long time friend of Jentri and Brian, they knew he'd put together something entertaining and special. They were right! It was so personal with his own life experience and with his relationship with Brian and Jentri.  At one point, a boat drove by and gave a toot toot in celebration. Adam didn't drop a beat and gave his own cheer back at them!

After a fantastic KISS, we all dispersed for drinks and food. Family stayed for a few photos and with their new rings, I took Jentri and Brian to take some portraits by their beautiful arch, trees, and of course the river.

I left them for some time alone. As I was walking toward the tent, I turned back to see them standing so perfectly under their arch, leaning on each other, just watching their guests mingle. It's one of my favorite photos from the day. I can remember reminding myself on my wedding day to take the time to step back. Take it in! It's just amazing to see all your favorite people together in one place.

At one point, one of their guests came up to me and said "Hey, I have a drone. Do you think they'd want an aerial photo of their party?" Ummmm, heck yah, guy!! So we got everyone out in front of the tent to take the shot - I hope I get to see it! That was a fun surprise!

The night just kept getting more and more special. Beautiful performances from their parents, the dances, the food, and entertainment! I left after a quite spectacular array of fireworks, but the celebrations continued through out the night and well into the weekend.

Too fast. Jentri and Brian, I was elated when you asked me to capture your wedding day. I loved meeting your families. Apparently, Jentri comes from a line of photographers who were all eager to discuss photography with me! Especially her Dad! I loved it!

What an awesome day. Thank you from the bottom of my heart - I wish you a lifetime of loving memories! Cheers!

(I apologize for not catching the names of the vendors - please tag yourself!)

Kacey + Danny 6-29-19

With thunderstorms and high winds in the forecast, Kacey assured me in an email that everything would run smoothly for their outdoor wedding. I don't know how she did it, but there was not one bump! It was spectacular! The sun was shining, birds were chirping, and everything was in place! Everyone arrived in a joyful mood, happy to soak up the sun as they watched Kacey and Danny unite as husband and wife.

The Gardens at Uncanoonuc Mountain in Goffstown, NH is such a special venue especially for those garden enthusiasts! The ceremony took place under a gorgeous, stand alone pine tree, not far from the sweet cottage where guests could munch, enjoy a beverage, and feel the cool from the AC. I took Kacey and Danny to the rose garden for their photos - Kacey's favorite spot! After dinner, guests were welcomed out back with a huge bonfire, games, and music!

It was just incredible. I loved watching Kacey and Danny enjoy their day - so clearly smitten over each other! Their guests jumped right in when it was time to play a game, roast a marshmallow, or dance on the dance floor! Something for everyone.

Thank you so much for choosing me to capture your wedding day! Cheers, to a happy, healthy life together!
